PRESS-RELEASES
AmCham Indonesia to help train Indonesia’s future business people through Prestasi Junior Indonesia! |
AmCham Indonesia is pleased to announce a new affiliation with Junior Achievement Indonesia (Prestasi Junior Indonesia), an American-based NGO that has been teaching entrepreneurial and business skills to students in various communities around Indonesia since 2004, reaching over 34,000 students in 2010.
The AmCham Indonesia Board of Governors approved this action on May 10, 2011. AmCham Indonesia supports this collaborative initiative through its Corporate Citizenship Committee, recognizing that ‘business’ is AmCham members’ core competency and that teaching business skills to students is an effective way for companies to reach out to communities and enhance CSR activities.
Participation will comprise three distinct activities:
1. Annual Student Company Fair in July. Junior Achievement would like to invite participating AmCham companies to judge student company booths and student company presentations. Annual affiliation highlights will be shared at future Student Company
Fairs each July.
2. Classroom volunteering commencing September 2011. Junior Achievement requests volunteers from participating AmCham companies visit schools once a month for the first semester (approximately 3 school visits during 2011).
3. Job Shadow program in early 2012. Member companies will host exceptional students, giving them hands-on experience and answering question on what it is like to work for a company
Indonesian Junior Achievement personnel will train volunteers and coordinate logistics associated with all school and company visitations.
With minimal resources and modest time commitments, AmCham Indonesia member companies have the opportunity to assist Indonesian students to become better business people, reach out to communities, promote American businesses in Indonesia, and support the US-Indonesian Comprehensive Partnership.
